Can Landlord Evict for This?
I have an Internet cable running across the carpet in my apartment. The landlord said I can't do that because it's a tripping hazard. So I bought an 8'-long by 2'6"-wide carpet runner to cover it. There is furniture at each end of the runner where the cable is exposed, so there is no chance of anyone tripping on it. The runner itself is multi-colored and stands out starkly against the tan carpet. But the landlord still claims I have a tripping hazard, and is threatening to evict me. The lease is a standard Texas Apartment Association lease. So, 2 questions:
1. Can she evict me for this?
2. If she can't, can she refuse to renew the lease in 8 months?
