The following is a summary of each state’s notice of entry requirements. Before a landlord accesses a rental property occupied by a tenant, advance notice is usually required. Exceptions are usually granted for emergency situations in most states. All common reasons for entry including emergencies, inspections, repairs, showing the space to prospective tenants before lease expiration and inspecting during a tenant’s extended absence have been provided below.
