Allow for a person to assume a preexisting lease in Iowa by using an IA Residential Sublease Agreement. As long as the prospective subtenant has been properly vetted and the landlord agrees, this rental contract makes it easy to transfer the occupancy of the premises. Unless otherwise agreed between the property owner and the subtenant, the sublease only remains in effect for as long as the original lease.
What Does Iowa Law Say?
§ 562A.19 The tenant shall not unreasonably withhold consent to the landlord to enter into the dwelling unit in order to inspect the premises, make necessary or agreed repairs, decorations, alterations, or improvements, supply necessary or agreed services, or exhibit the dwelling unit to prospective or actual purchasers, mortgagees, tenants, workers, or contractors.
